A Japanese street scene that moves, lights up and plays music.

Closed, this kit looks like a pastel hardback on your shelf. Open the cover to 90 degrees and a sunny cherry blossom town appears, with a green tram on an elevated track and a row of little shops below. One touch starts everything at once: the tram glides side to side, the sky backdrop slowly rotates, a cyclist and a cat circle the street, the lights come on and a music-box melody plays. It is the most involved build in the range and the most rewarding one to switch on.

Key Features

  • Three moving parts: sliding tram, slow-rotating backdrop, cyclist and cat turning 360 degrees
  • One-touch control for lights, motion and a built-in music-box melody
  • Book-style cover opens 90 degrees, so it works as a shelf insert or an open diorama
  • 339 laser-cut wooden pieces with mortise-and-tenon joints, no glue required
  • USB-C powered, so there are no batteries to replace
  • Around 8 hours to build, suited to confident builders

Use Cases

  • Shelf styling that fills the gap between books with a lit miniature scene
  • A slow, screen-free weekend project for adults and older teens

Sound comes with the motion

The combined control is simple, though sometimes I would prefer watching the tram in silence.

Cable shopping first

The USB-C cable and adapter aren't supplied. I gathered those before the final assembly session.

T
Theodore Knight
USB power suits my desk

There's a power source nearby, making this an easy display choice for my workspace.

E
Emmett Roth
Watching all the movement

I keep changing my focus between the tram, the cyclist, and the slowly shifting sky.

G
Gwen Rangel
My first moving miniature

I've built static scenes before, so seeing this one operate felt like a real achievement.

E
Elise Caldwell
A family unveiling

My parents came over just as I finished, so they got the first little tram demonstration.

D
Damian Lamb
Moving parts need concentration

I enjoyed most of the build, but aligning the mechanical sections took extra care.

D
Daisy Hale
The cat goes around too

I bought it for the tram and ended up watching the circling cat most of all.

Z
Zoe Watts
A cyclist on a tiny errand

That moving bicycle adds such a charming everyday detail to the scene.

H
Henry Chapman
Birthday reveal was fun

We waited until everyone was seated before turning it on. The moving tram got an immediate smile.

E
Esme Walsh
A project with a payoff

The mechanical movement gives the last assembly step a particularly rewarding finish.

Rain outside, blossoms inside

Worked on this while it poured outside our apartment. The sunny scene was a welcome contrast.

J
Julian Townsend
A shelf-sized music box

It feels like a miniature scene and a musical ornament rolled into one.

T
Tristan Morales
Shops under the railway

I like looking beneath the track as much as watching the tram overhead.

S
Sheila Hughes
Best for confident builders

Lovely design, but I was glad I already had some miniature-building experience.

M
Marissa Stephens
Springtime year-round

Our Minnesota winters are long. Having a little blossom-filled town nearby feels cheerful.

Opening night at home

Finishing the build felt like getting a tiny stage ready for its first performance.

Set aside enough time

This was closer to a proper weekend project than a casual evening craft for me.

H
Hugo Bishop
Afternoon with the manual

I read ahead before each stage and enjoyed understanding what I was putting together.

K
Karina Vargas
Green tram against pink trees

That color combination is especially appealing to me.

V
Victor Stevenson
Power location matters

My original shelf had no convenient power source, so I moved the model closer to my desk.

S
Simone Farrell
A cheerful little town

The cherry blossoms make the whole street feel sunny and lighthearted.

R
Renee Sherman
A sweet housewarming project

My sister wanted something to build for her new apartment, and this was a lovely choice.

C
Carmen Chandler
Noticed the sky last

At first I watched the obvious moving pieces. Then I realized the background was changing too.

M
Miranda Holloway
More mechanism than I wanted

I enjoy decorating miniature interiors more than assembling motion components. This wasn't my easiest project.

H
Howard Lester
Patient work paid off here

I checked the moving sections carefully during assembly. The final switch-on was worth the concentration.

C
Claudia Hawkins
Cat lover's surprise

My friend hadn't noticed the cat in the photos, so that moving detail was a bonus for her.

S
Sharon Willis
A bright spot on Mondays

Turning the town on for a moment makes my home office feel less ordinary.

C
Caleb Dunn
A full weekend's entertainment

Building it occupied Saturday, and showing the finished scene to family occupied part of Sunday.

G
Gianna Emerson
Enjoyed the joint construction

Fitting the wooden connections together was satisfying without waiting for adhesive to dry.

J
Jean Price
Too active for my quiet study

The model is charming, but music and movement together are more stimulation than I want while reading.

F
Francesca Daniels
Worth choosing a special spot

I cleared an uncrowded area so the open cover and movement could be seen properly.
