A haunted hotel with a ghost that actually moves.

The Bloody Hotel is a two-storey horror nook built for Halloween shelves. Upstairs, a guest room has been torn apart: blood-smeared doors scratched with "HELP", an axe, ravens on the floor and a swirling gold mirror on a velvet chair. Downstairs, a grand staircase climbs past candelabras and a skeleton-lined feast table to a doorway where a ghost appears on a small built-in screen. A music box and a sensor switch finish the effect, so the scene lights and plays when you reach for it.

Definitely a horror theme

The bloody details are more intense than cute Halloween decor. It suits my taste, but choose accordingly.

Skeleton dinner party

The skeleton banquet has a wonderfully absurd sense of humor. I keep imagining their dinner conversation.

A properly creepy hotel

The doors, ravens, and mirror give the upstairs a great horror-movie atmosphere.

D
Derek Shields
Halloween shelf centerpiece

This became the focal point of our spooky book display.

D
Dawn Carlson
Ravens on watch

Those birds are a small detail, but they help sell the eerie atmosphere.

The ghost actually moves

That animated screen is what makes this stand out from my other miniature scenes.

N
Naomi Tucker
Music adds to the mood

The sound makes the little scene feel more theatrical when I show it to friends.

P
Piper Alexander
A door worth inspecting

The ghost detail gives you a reason to lean in for a closer look.

K
Kelly Valencia
More effects than I usually use

The screen and music are entertaining, although sometimes I prefer simply admiring the assembled model.

E
Elliott Norris
Fun to show after dark

We dimmed the room lights before revealing the completed hotel. Much better that way.

D
Delaney Sparks
Plan for the power cable

I needed a display location near a power source. Worth thinking about before choosing a shelf.

G
Georgia Jacobs
Too unsettling for our main room

I enjoyed building it, but the horror imagery ended up feeling better suited to my hobby room.

D
Donna Harmon
Gold mirror contrast

The fancy mirror against the grim surroundings is a great little design choice.

P
Patricia Byrd
Creepy little staircase

Following the staircase with your eyes leads you from the gruesome dinner to the strange rooms upstairs.

R
Roy Small
Horror reader's project

Built this to sit next to my horror novels. The theme couldn't fit better.

B
Barbara Duran
Type-C is convenient

I like powering the hotel by cable instead of keeping another supply of batteries around.

C
Chelsea Kirby
Not just another haunted house

The hotel setting and two-story interior make this feel distinct from our other Halloween decorations.

W
Walter Rowe
Candelabras complete the dining room

The lower floor has exactly the spooky banquet look I wanted.

A different 250-piece build

The moving screen gives the finished result an extra bit of entertainment after the assembly is over.

O
Oscar Carroll
Green and red glow

The lighting colors suit the haunted setting wonderfully.
